Asahi Japanese Sushi & Grill in Denham Springs

The host was friendly, but that’s all the positivie comments I can provide. The sushi fell apart and tasted bland. I ordered two lunch entrees. There 6-8 tiny pieces of meat in each. The noodles didn’t have any flavor either. I am a little disappointed.

Amazing sushi and bento boxes, served with soup/salad. Yummy warmed, smooth saki. Best Asian cuisine in this area and it won't break the bank. Great value!

Small place. Very personable staff that's super friendly. Sushi is amazing. Volcano roll is 2nd to none. You won't find it on the menu but the Rhonda roll is amazing.

OMG! What can I say? The son has preserved and honored the standards his father set. Quality is spot on. Hole-in-the-wall atmosphere is what you get. Top quality at small town prices. Truly a food adventure you won't soon forget!

I think there is a change in owners, last time I ate there it was delicious and fresh the last time was not so good. Worst California roll I ever had. Not sure if I will go back and I love Japanese food

Love this place. The hand rolls are very tasty and fresh. This is my go to spot in the Los Angeles area. Sometimes they have lengthy wait times. But its worth it. I recommend this place if you're looking for a quick bite and great tasting hand rolls.

The lady at the front desk was nice but that was all that was nice about this place. I paid over $9 for my food and there was barely any food in the container. Also the food that was in the container didn't taste very good. Definitely won't be back i was definitely disappointed.

This place is cozy, simple, and the food is great. I did not give it a 5 star because I was expecting ninjas and was very disappointed. Oh wait, they were likely there and I was not able to see them because.... well, they are ninjas. Well played Asahi. Well played. 5 stars it is.

This is definitely one of the finest restaurants in the neighborhood. Always when I come there I am very satisfied. They hold their high standard service and the topmost level of cooking they provide. You surely will enjoy this this restaurant. Very recommended.

I'm sorry...but no! Ugh! I should have known that is was subpar when I entered and was immediately hit with a weird odor. The second clue should have been the lack of people of Japanese ethnicity. Maybe they were in the back. I got home to find my containers were light and upside-down. The veggie tempura was "okay" but the rolls were drab. And the rice had no flavor. I miss Sake Thai! These three rolls were not worth the $16

Our server was so personable and friendly! Gave us his personal take on all of the best menu items AND encouraged my fiancé to try some of my eel roll with me!! Food was top knock as well and very quick service!

This place is a gem tucked in a Big Lots plaza. We've been going here since 2009, maybe earlier. Great food and fair prices. Service is always on point. Call ahead if you have a big party, there is not much space. Highly recommend!!

My wife was extremely satisfied

So disappointed! We were regulars before the pandemic. We had 2 orders of spring rolls which were delicious but cold. The combo large sashimi and sushi platter was so disappointing! Slivers of fish compared to what we got in the past. The place was slammed busy for a Mon eve and took 50 min to get our food but we rarely care about the wait...so for us no problem! The hot tea was delicious and waitress was ok! The sushi from Publix would have been a much better choice all around!😢

Extraordinary vibes and super friendly service. The meals were crisp and delicious. Will easily recommend this restaurant to friends and family. Fair prices and big portions. Great job.

i love their sushi. mostly go through door dash. the only problem is that they flip they're takeout boxes and put them in a plastic bag. all the sushi get on the top, and when I order fly fish roe its all over the place.

It's a nice small cozy spot. The food and sushi is very good. Sushi is fresh. Restaurant is CLEAN !!! Staff was friendly and fast. I'll be back !

Update: still awesome!!Server was great and gave an awesome recommendation. Food was fast large portions for the price. Fresh and tasty. The only "downside" is the can sodas.

Very good food, good service, interior is quite nicer than the outside would have you think. Great sushi.

The service is wonderful. The staff is all about teamwork. Everything about the place was great except for the sushi. Not my personal favorite. It may have just been because it was busy. I’m not sure. I’ll give it another try some other time and see if the food is better.

Ordered via DoorDash. Sushi was poorly rolled and most pieces came falling apart, very sloppy. Also I asked for spicy tuna roll special request because for some reason this very basic roll wasn’t on the menu? Yet there was a hand roll available with spicy tuna lol a little contradictory. Anyway, whoever made it just squeezed some hot sauce on each piece. Overall mediocre quality.. I expected a little more from a 4.4 star rating. :/

Food is excellent fresh sushi

Our favorite place to eat Sushi in Central Florida! Yummy food and service is always outstanding.Ryan is the best! Very courteous and attentive.

Fantastic everything was beyond compare excellent. And our server was very gracious. Our group of four ordered a full variety of sushi every item was to perfection recommend highly. You may be turned off by the exterior however when you get inside it's very appealing and clean.

Terrible customer service. Never tried the food because the staff can't answer a telephone and take an order. Staff was rude and flippant; not a shred of Omotenashi. Staff said better sushi in Lake Mary and that they don't want new business - go elsewhere. Well ok then.

Way too expensive for the amount and quality they offered. We won't go there again. The teriyaki chicken looked bland and tasted O K. We got like 5 or 6 little pieces of chicken. Not a very good first impression. We normally go to Maru Sushi in Sandford Florida (the prices and food is outstanding there. Never a let down) but we did not feel like going out out picking it up and Asahi offered delivery.

Friendly service, shrimp and steak cooked to perfection. Not a huge fan of their noodles but they're not bad. The onion soup was a touch on the bland side. The salad was very small, but the ginger dressing was good. Our rolls were good also. Over all not very impressed. Perhaps my previous local fave set the bar a tad high, but this isnt to say that they're not good, because they are.. will definitely scratch that Japanese food itch that you're having. I'd also like to add portions are small and the prices are high.

Went there to pick up my food and the sushi looked like a 5th grader made it and the rice and noodles we’re overcooked. I’ve made better at home. They have 5 stars but 1 from me. That’s not how you run a business.

Tim S. was correct. Worst tuna and California roll ever. Had meals delivered, and delivered LATE (which didn't help the tempura that arrived limp and sweating in styrofoam box). The hibachi chicken and pork tonkatsu were actually decent, but miso "house" soup lacked flavor, and sushi wasn't fresh at all ... had strong smell to it which isn't a good sign. We didn't chance it. Even if it were fresh, it's not the way a good California Roll is made. Is your chef even Japanese??We'll stick to Fujiyama down the street from now on. Wouldn't mind a refund! If you do, please donate it to Villalobos Rescue Center in New Orleans (tax deductible).

Loved the place Ashley was great sit us at the corner for social distance and food was quick and delicious.

If you are looking for sushi this is the best place in town and it's made fresh!
